Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 葛饰应为生活在艺术几乎完全由男性主导的江户时代，尽管她是北斋之女，但仍作为屈指可数的女性画师活跃于画坛。她拥有连北斋都称赞“在美人画方面胜我一筹”的绘画天赋，同时性格火爆、刚强、烟不离手，是个豪爽洒脱的女性形象。                                                                      　　《喂，应为》的主人公阿荣是北斋的女儿、得力助手，展现了惊人的绘画天赋。她从父亲那里获得了“葛饰应为”这一画号，这个名字源于北斋常常喊她“喂，饭来！”“喂，笔来！”等日常呼唤，“应”代表回应，“为”则有作为、成就之意，是从师父传给弟子的名号，也是父亲传给女儿的象征。尽管她不会泡茶，也不擅长针线活，却以继承自父亲的绘画才华与胆识，在男性社会中闯出一条路。

影片根据朴玟奎的同名小说改编，讲述相貌平平的女人和喜欢她的男人的成长故事。
