显赫富商一原高显（北村总一朗 饰）病故，他的亲属们齐齐来到高级日式客栈“回廊亭”举行断七法事，当然最令他们关心的还是遗产分配事宜。每个人都心怀鬼胎，渴望获得最大利益，也格外防备着其他人的算计，所谓亲情变得不值一提。就在这一关键时刻，一名神秘而美艳的女子突然出现在一原家面前，她自称本间美代子（常盘贵子 饰），是与死者生前颇有渊源的老婆婆的女儿。夜深人静，做梦发财的贪婪之人没有等到他们的遗产，反而等来死神的光临。破灭的爱情，破败的人生，曾经种下的恶缘种子，在回廊亭开始发芽。 本片根据东野圭吾的原作小说改编。

Marple is extremely proud when she is appointed to the board of trustees of a merchant marine training vessel whose mission is to rehabilitate young criminals. When a fellow trustee is poisoned just prior to his making some kind of revelation, Miss Marple decides to use her position to spend time on the ship. 梦想成为插画家的纱织（井上真央 饰）有个死穴，那就是极其不擅长英语，看到英语就会头疼。中学时期的某次英语考试甚至考出了4分的成绩。纱织认为自己今后都将不会和英语发生任何关系，结果却遇上了来自美国的作家托尼（Jonathan Sherr 饰）。托尼非常痴迷于各种语言，对汉字之美一直很向往，机缘巧合来到了日本，结果遇上了插画家纱织。一段异国恋就此展开。在恋爱的过程中，因为二人来自不同的国家，想法上有很多不同，但这不是矛盾，反而成为了二人进一步了解彼此的方法。在姐姐（国仲凉子 饰）的婚礼上，已同居的二人考虑到了结婚。但这似乎是一个麻烦的问题…… 本剧改编自小栗左多里的同名漫画，故事内容根据作者和其美籍爱人托尼的真实恋爱故事改编，充满动人的小情趣。
